It was Reliance Jio that shattered the dreams of all the telecom giants in India last year. Mukesh Amabani-owned company gave complimentary data and voice calls free of cost for the first three months. As other telecom giants thought that their stars would turn after 3 months, the company gave another nightmare to them. Reliance Jio extended the offer till March 2017 under the ‘Happy new year’ offer and decided to charge the users from April 2017.
As soon as the date of quitting the complimentary data was near, Reliance Jio introduced the plan rates that the users would be paying. The company introduced the Prime membership concept. Had the validity was over, the company launched the ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ offer for the Prime users. This offer gave the users 1GB of data per day with free voice calls and access to all the Jio apps for Rs 303 for a period of 84 days. The company also gave 2GB of data per day with free voice calls and access to all the Jio apps for Rs 503 for a period of 84 days.
In order to answer this offer, the second largest telecom partner of the country Vodafone has introduced a new offer. The company has decided to give 4 GB of free 4G data to its users. Yes!!! You heard it right. The company is offering 4 GB of data to those users who will be switching their original Vodafone SIM card to $G SIM card. For prepaid users, the free data will be added to their original balance of data with validity of 10 days. For postpaid users, the data will be added from the next billing cycle.
Well, this effort from the Vodafone seems to be miserable as it is very negligible in front of Reliance Jio’s ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ offer. This effort of Vodafone is not going to have any effect on Reliance Jio but it will surely increase the number of Vodafone users that will be using a 4G SIM. Let us see as to how much nightmares Reliance Jio is planning to give other telecom giants.
