India’s Haj Quota Is Now 1.75 Lakh, Increased By 5,000 By Saudi

As per Naqvi, In the year 2017 the Haj quota of India increased by thirty-five thousand by the Saudi Arabia authorities this was the result of the good relations between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the authorities of Saudi. Al Khalid Tours & Travels, a prominent private tour operator’s Yusuf Kherada believes that the increase in Haj quota proposed by Mr Naqvi, the Minister of Minority Affairs is much appreciated. The Minister of the minority affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi mentions that this year there will be no “Mahram” and nearly there are one thousand and three hundred women travelling to Haj. Hung Assembly Likely In Karnataka, Poll Survey Leaked

A pre-poll survey predicting the outcome of the Karnataka Assembly polls has created an upheaval in the state’s political circles. The survey supposed to have been conducted by an unknown agency by the name of CHS has estimated the seat allocation as follows; Congress-77-81 seats, BJP-73-76 seats and JD(S) – 64-66 seats. With the predictions indicating a hung assembly, the agency has directed both the Congress and BJP to put in extra efforts if they want to supersede the other. The survey prediction was circulated on Sunday to many WhatsApp groups that included politicians.

As per agency claims, the survey included a sample of 2000 people from each constituency. The observations of the survey can be listed as follows:

Hung Assembly Likely In Karnataka, Poll Survey Leaked

  • Lower castes support the Congress even now
  • Upper castes have drifted away from Congress
  • CM Siddaramaiah’ Ahinda policy is ineffective
  • BJP’s ‘Hindutva’ card is unimpressive
  • Ruling party has lost its footing in the past five years
  • Announcement of Dalit Chief Minister prior-elections will prove beneficial to Congress

The last observation seemed to suggest that state congress President, Dr G Parameshwara who is a Dalit must be involved in the survey. He however, reassured the Siddaramaiah camp that he had no hand in it and filed a complaint against CHS with cyber cell of the police. He further told the party cadres not to get affected by such surveys as according to him the Karnataka Assembly polls would be won by the Congress.

The Gowdas were later suspected of being involved in the circulation of the survey; however, this claim was strongly refuted by former Prime Minister and JDS chief, HD Deve Gowda who too stated that they would in fact sweep the polls with a full majority. The survey was also rubbished by BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa, who was confident of their party winning the polls on their own.

With all having raised their hands of being involved in the survey, the mystery of the survey’s origin still continues!

Blue Turns Orange…Color Coded Passport to Protect Migrant Workers

In India, there is a big rift between the rich and the poor. Critics fear that the new rule of differently colored passports will deepen the divide between the two groups.

On Friday, India’s Foreign Ministry issued new rules regarding passports, which said that citizens requiring emigration checks will now carry orange passports, while the other lot will carry blue ones.

The new orange passports are mainly designed to protect vulnerable laborers from exploitation abroad, but this color coding could increase the discrimination.

Blue Turns Orange...Color Coded Passport to Protect Migrant Workers

India is the world’s largest exporter of migrant labor. One in 20 migrant workers worldwide are born in India. Indian emigrants sent home $69 billion in 2015, making India the world’s top receiver of remittances. But many who provide cheap, unskilled labor, are quite vulnerable to exploitation.

In the past few years, scandals in Persian Gulf countries involving Indians have shaken the citizens.

Indian Embassy in Doha reported that more than 500 Indians died between 2012 and 2014.

Unskilled Indians have to get clearances from the Indian government before traveling to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia and Yemen.

But skilled or educated workers don’t need to get clearances for travel, as they are less likely to be exploited abroad.

The new passport design would make use of colored covers, which would help in differentiating so that it will become easier for immigration and law enforcement officers. Human trafficking would also become more difficult as officials would immediately know who needs the extra permission to travel.

Oomen Chandy, former chief minister of the southern state of Kerala believed that if this turned out to be real, the moment an orange color passport holder lands abroad, he will be looked down upon. He even added that character and individuality of a person should not be pointed at finger at.

Shutdowns, job losses, distress acquirements, and many more! The year of 2017 has been a spectator to various downturns in entrepreneurial bionetwork of India, which started separation of the water from the milk, making the job of beginning a new company a rather burdensome one. And only those with the firmness to look through the hurdle till its very end are probable to survive.

2018 Will Be Time To Reboot For Startups

Take for example the tale of Dunzo, a hyperlocal delivery and concierge company that began in 2015, just when the climate of funding turned off. It was one of the handful of companies in its sector to last and grow up to almost 3,500 orders each day with only almost $2 Million of funding. On the other hand, when Kabeer Biswas, its founder, went out in January to lift funds, it was nothing but a challenge.

The firm wrote to various investors in the country as well as all over the world. But it was not simple. Venture capital sponsors located out of the country had previously lost a lot of funds, supporting firms such as Opinio and PepperTap in the hyperlocal segment, and while they were overwhelmed by capital competence of Dunzo, the wounds were still fresh. After more than 6 Months of the procedure, Dunzo had got a couple of acquirement proposals, but it made a decision to refuse them.

“When we replied no to them we did not have any other associates for funding. We did not contain a backup plan. Starting up is not a financial move, you do it due to the fact that user experience must continue living,” claimed Biswas. But a couple weeks later, a proposal materialized from unanticipated quarters. Google invested a sum of $12 Million in Dunzo, its first direct spending in a startup of India, as per the sources.
