App of the Day: Periscope

How the world would have been without multitasking apps? Any guesses? The planet seems to be small after one click on the submit button of login page. The terminology of communication has been revised by the mobile applications. So, today we have brought you to an app which streams live videos. You must be thinking what’s the big deal in it? Loads of apps deliver this facility. I would say below is difference.

App of the Day: Periscope

Periscope is an application which shows the live video streaming, but not with the content owned by the company or developers. It streams the live video via the user’s device from any corner of the world at anytime. It works like an, on-the-go broadcasting station, where the logged in users can join the live broadcast and interact with broadcasters.

The idea hit the brain of Kayvon Beykpour and Joe Bernstein—founders of Periscope, while they were on the travel tour in Istanbul when the protest broke out. They wanted to know about the status there, they turned on Twitter, but realized that the information could be only read, can’t be seen. And here it started…

The company was started in 2014 with name ‘Bounty’, later acquired by Twitter for an uncertain amount. In 2016, Periscope was launched with its name by Twitter.

Periscope allows users to link their live stream to tweet. The user after login sees a world map with number of active users around the globe and in specific regions. The content can be live news, explorations, new people, and share of thoughts through video. Periscope enables the viewers to comment and hit hearts as an appreciation. The broadcaster is known as scooper. Scooper can also block the viewer and its redundant comments. The app is supported on iOS and android OS.

The best thing about the app is every time to login, you find a new topic, place, and character, and who knows you may find beauty too.
